Introduction: Toxicological event consists of exposure to harmful substances to the body, and has drugs as the main agents, with most cases being registered in the female population. Objective: To describe the characteristics of drug-related toxicological events in women of reproductive age. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, with analysis of data extracted from a database used by a Center for Information and Toxicological Assistance to register cases of toxicological events assisted by the service. The study population consisted of women between 10 and 49 years of age attended between 2017 and 2020. Results: Of the 3,304 cases treated, most involved a single medication (49.5%) and suicide attempt represented the main circumstance (89,0%). The most frequent drug classes were antidepressants (20.2%) and hypnotics/sedatives (17.1%). Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and steroids had the greatest increase in participation in toxicological events (2017 to 2020), with 47.8% and 33.3%, respectively. Conclusions: Drugs that act on the central nervous system represented the main group involved in toxicological events and there was a significant increase in events involving anti-inflammatory drugs.
